Cosmic Peace Prayers is a free, non-commercial weekly practice of prayer and meditation for peace. Every Sunday at 8 PM local time, anyone who wants to join pauses for eight minutes, wherever they are, and prays or meditates in their own way.
The idea
Eight minutes. Eight o'clock. Every Sunday. Because the hour is local, the practice travels with the evening from one time zone to the next, like a wave around the planet. No one has to convert a time zone and no one has to be online at the same second. It is enough to know that others are keeping the same appointment.
The practice is deliberately open. Christians pray, Jews say a psalm, Muslims make dhikr, Buddhists practise loving-kindness, others simply sit in silence. The website offers a gentle structure of seven steps and a timer with a soft bell, but nobody has to use it.
Who is behind it
Cosmic Peace Prayers is written and cared for by Aurel. Aurel is a pen name. The person legally responsible for the project is named with full address in the imprint. The project is based in Munich, Germany, and is not affiliated with any church, religious community or political organisation.
Principles
- Free, forever. No fees, no paid products, no courses, no coaching, no upsell.
- No account. You do not need to register to take part.
- No advertising and no paid media. The practice grows by word of mouth only.
- One email a week at most. The Sunday Letter is optional and can be cancelled with one click.
- Privacy first. No tracking cookies, no analytics profiles, all fonts and scripts are delivered by our own web host in Germany. The third-party services we use are our web host All-Inkl in Germany, MailerLite for the Sunday Letter and, if you switch on the Sunday reminder, your browser's push service. The prayer circles run on WhatsApp and Telegram.
How to take part
- Next Sunday at 8 PM your time, stop for eight minutes.
- Pray or meditate for peace, in your own words or with one of the prayers for world peace we have collected.
- If you like, light a candle on the home page for someone close to your heart, or receive the free Sunday Letter.
Transparency: what this website does and does not do
- No tracking on the website. No cookies, no analytics profiles, no third-party scripts or fonts. For the Sunday Letter we evaluate neither opens nor clicks. See the privacy policy.
- One anonymous number. When you start or finish the timer, the website counts one anonymous weekly total. It is shown on the home page only when at least three sittings were begun that week, and it says only how many sittings were started on this website. It does not count how many people pray around the world, because most people pray without ever opening this page.
- Candles. A candle is public for seven days. You can remove your own candle at any time in the browser where you lit it, and anyone can report one. For other people, please use only first names or initials.
- Corrections. If you find an error in any guide, write to hello@cosmicpeaceprayers.org. Corrections are made openly and the date at the top of the page is updated.
